GENERAL FUNCTION: All Direct Support Professionals will be responsible for providing supervision and support to residents of assigned home. In this capacity, direct care staff will be on the premises and available to the residents during scheduled shift. At no time will the residents be unsupervised by Point staff, unless "alone time" is specified in plan of care. Direct Support Professionals may be required to work in various homes depending on the needs of the program.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Eligible candidates for employment must be 21 years of age. They must be literate, able to problem solve, and have a valid drivers license. CNA/STNA/SRNA preferred.


  1. Maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity of each resident at all times.
  2. Attend and complete all required staff trainings and meetings as scheduled.
  3. Ensure the safety, welfare and rights of all residents.
  4. Assist residents with daily living activities as well as personal hygiene as appropriate.
  5. Assist in evaluating resident's ability in self-care, home management, and social/leisure skills.
  6. Transport residents to various locations as necessary.
  7. Use agency equipment and vehicles responsibly.
  8. Be responsible for providing a homelike environment while meeting the physical, social and psychological needs of the residents.
  9. Provide ongoing supportive training to assist residents in achieving maximum potential for independence and self direction.
  10. Respond as trained and report any medical issues that may arise during shift in a home.
  11. Document on home progress log any health matters and communicate with team members.
  12. Administer and oversee medications in accordance with The Point's medication administration policy.
  13. Report incidents or critical changes related to residents to Program Director as appropriate.
  14. Complete incident reports in accordance with The Point's Incident Reporting Policy.
  15. Assist in meal preparation and menu planning following nutritional guidelines.
  16. Maintain a healthy and clean living environment.
  17. Must have the physical stamina to participate in activities initiated by the individuals living in the home.
  18. Must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of fifty pounds, when necessary, while supporting individuals living in the home.


  1. To arrive to work promptly.
  2. To act as an appropriate role model for residents and staff.
  3. To be responsible for maintaining working knowledge of facility policies and procedures, and contractual requirements on a continuous basis.
  4. To maintain a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, client relationships, boundaries and professionalism.
  5. To model behaviors in accordance with The Point's Code of Ethics.
  6. To maintain current professional licensure and /or certification and to provide current copies to the Human Resource department.
  7. To function in a manner consistent with the standard outlined in The Point's policies and procedure manual.
